The Portuguese Society of Biotechnology (SPBT) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we process on this website, why, and what your rights are.
Who is responsible

What data we process
- Contact form: first name, last name, email, mobile phone, company or institution, and message. We use this data only to reply to you, based on your consent.
- Membership application: the application form collects identification, contact and affiliation details, addresses, tax number and membership type. We use this data to manage your application and fees, as part of our relationship with members and the legal obligations of SPBT.
- Browsing data: with your permission, we collect visitor statistics. See the Cookie Policy.
How long we keep data
Messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request. Member data is kept while the membership is active and, afterwards, for the period required by law.
Who we share data with
We do not sell personal data. We use service providers who process data on our behalf: website hosting (Hostinger) and, for the application form, Google. These services may involve transfers outside the European Economic Area, with the safeguards required by law.
Your rights
You can request access to, rectification, erasure, restriction or portability of your data, object to its processing and withdraw consent at any time by writing to spbt.contab@gmail.com. You can also lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority (CNPD), at www.cnpd.pt.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the version in force.
